Who Is Bo Hopkins?
Bo Hopkins was born in Greenville, South Carolina, U.S. in 1938. Credited on films since 1969, as an actor. The background, training and the roles that shaped the career.
William Mauldin "Bo" Hopkins was born on February 2, 1938, and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. After a troubled youth, he dropped out of school just before his 17th birthday and joined the U.S. Army, serving in the 101st Airborne Division in Korea for nine months. Following his military service, he began dating Norma Woodle, his first wife, and had a daughter with her in July 1960. Hopkins then moved to Hollywood and began his acting career, parking cars to earn a living while studying at the Actors Studio, where Martin Landau was one of his classmates. In his personal life, Hopkins was known to have a two-year relationship with Gondola co-star Sondra Locke.
Over a career spanning more than 40 years, Hopkins appeared in more than 100 film and television roles. His breakthrough came with the major studio film 'American Graffiti' and he went on to play supporting roles in several other significant films from 1969 to 1979. Among the most notable of these were 'The Wild Bunch' (1969), 'The Getaway' (1972), and 'More American Graffiti' (1979). His final film, 'Hillbilly Elegy,' was directed by his long-time friend Ron Howard and was released in 2020. Bo Hopkins passed away after a heart attack on May 28, 2022, at the age of 84. During his later years, he had returned to acting and was working on his autobiography.
