Audrey Hepburn: Movies, Awards & Box Office

Audrey Hepburn (originally Audrey Kathleen Ruston) was a prominent British actress who had a highly successful career in Hollywood. She was born on May 4, 1929, in Ixelles, Brussels, Belgium to an aristocratic Dutch and Britsh family. Hepburn is widely known for her notable acting roles and also for her timeless fashion style. In her career span 1948-1989, she delivered some memorable performances in films like 'Roman Holiday', 'Sabrina', 'Funny Face', 'Breakfast at Tiffany's', and 'My Fair Lady'. She has received various accolades for her performances including an Academy Award, BAFTA Awards, and Tony Award among others. Hepburn's career transitioned from being just an actress to a humanitarian in her later years. She was appointed as the Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF where she worked extensively in some of the poorest communities of Africa, South America and Asia. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in December 1992 for her commendable humanitarian work.

Away from the limelight, she was married twice, first to Mel Ferrer (1954-1968) and then to Andrea Dotti (1969-1982). Hepburn was also in a long term relationship with Dutch actor, Robert Wolders from 1980 till her death in 1993. She had two children, one from each marriage. Hepburn died on January 20, 1993, at age 63 in Tolochenaz, Vaud, Switzerland.
