Aubrey Morris, born as Aubrey Steinberg on June 1, 1926, was a celebrated British actor, best recognized for his roles in the films 'A Clockwork Orange' and 'The Wicker Man'. He was one of nine children born to Becky (née Levine) and Morry Steinberg. His brother, Wolfe Morris, was also a reputable actor. Coming from a Jewish background, Aubrey's grandparents escaped the Russian pogroms, landing in London around 1890 before moving to Portsmouth nearly a decade later. Aubrey's acting education took him to Portsmouth Municipal College and RADA. His first foray into acting took place in 1944 at the Open Air Theatre in Regent's Park, his stage debut marked with 'The Winter's Tale'. He spent the years 1954 – 1956 at The Old Vic and made an appearance on Broadway. Aubrey's film credits extend to over fifty films including notable roles such as Thorburn in 'The Night Caller' (1965) and others in Stanley Kubrick's 'A Clockwork Orange' (1971), Woody Allen's 'Love and Death' (1975), and Ken Russell's 'Lisztomania' (1975). He was active both in film and television roles, his broad career spanning from his 1948 debut in a BBC production of the comedy 'Fly Away Peter', to the 1996 horror film 'Bordello of Blood'. Aubrey's illustrious career is marked with diversity, from UK shows like 'Z-Cars' and 'Lovejoy', to US productions like 'Columbo' and 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia'.
