Marcus arrives late and is paired with her by the camp counselor, a setup that irks him from the start as he takes a grudging seat and clutches the paddle. He tries to show off his paddling skills, slicing through the water with mixed confidence, but Renee isn’t impressed and begins to rock the canoe, testing his patience with each small tremor of the boat.
