Where Were You When the Lights Went Out? 1968

On November 9, 1965, Margaret Garrison is a stage actress whose career has largely revolved around virginal, shimmering roles. Deep inside, she longs for a chance to explore something a little more daring—perhaps a bold Italian prostitute—before she hangs up her stage makeup for good. When a sudden Broadway blackout cuts the night short, she returns home to a tense scene: her architect husband, Peter Garrison, is openly fawning over an attractive reporter named Roberta Lane. The sight provokes fury in Margaret, and in a haze of hurt and stubborn pride she heads to the couple’s weekend house in Connecticut, where she intends to sleep away the storm.
