Set in 1939, under British rule in India, the tale centers on Pratap, a sailor who loves a wealthy woman. His hopes are challenged by her cross-cousin, Jayaram, who serves in the British army and also seeks her hand. When the ship’s captain is poisoned by two crew members, Jayaram uses his influence to falsely accuse Pratap, which leads to his deportation to the secluded Andaman Jail.

Trapped for thirteen years, Pratap eventually escapes by diving into the Andaman Sea, where he is rescued by two sailors. Consumed by thoughts of revenge against those who wronged him, he teams up with Mahendra Bhupathi, a fellow inmate and former zamindar who shares his thirst for vengeance against Jayaram. On his deathbed, Mahendra Bhupathi reveals the location of a hidden treasure on Malabar Island.

Pratap then orchestrates a daring escape from prison by swapping himself with Mahendra’s dead body in a burial sack. Once he retrieves the treasure, he reinvents himself as a wealthy zamindar. He tracks down Jyothirmayi, Mahendra’s daughter who also seeks vengeance, and offers her shelter. With cold calculation, Pratap infiltrates the nobility and methodically dismantles the circle of people who betrayed him, using his newly acquired influence to punish the treachery that changed his life.
