A young student, Vijay, loves challenges and bets, and he routinely pushes the limits to win. In a flash of audacity, he makes a bold bet with his friend Arun, a fellow prankster, and the duo execute a cruel stunt to seal the victory: they trap a girl named Shanti inside a guest house for three days. This reckless gambit earns Arun an expulsion from college at the hands of Professor Ramanajam, setting off a ripple effect that taints everyone involved.

In a later, separate thread, a young woman named Lalitha goes to the teacher’s house and suffers rape at his hands, a trauma that drives her to despair and ultimately leads to her suicide. Lalitha’s brother, Appusami, is determined to avenge his sister’s death and turns to his friend Vijay, asking him to kill the rapist Ramanajam. Unbeknownst to them, Vijay’s friend Arun is listening in and also seeks vengeance, adding another layer of tension to an already volatile situation.

Vetri, another figure drawn into the cycle of vengeance, goes to the rapist’s house but finds he cannot bring himself to kill. He asks Ramanajam to pretend to be dead instead, hoping to avert a violent confrontation. Arun arrives, and Vetri explains that Appusami had challenged him to kill as part of a dare. Seemingly swift and quiet, Arun kills the teacher and escapes, leaving no immediate trace.

As Vetri faces prosecution, the narrative takes another turn when Arun’s father, Dharmaraj, reveals that the rapist has already been killed. Vetri is accused in court, but he asserts that, as a child, he had denounced Dharmaraj for an earlier attempted harm to his father—a claim that the judge failed to act on, hinting at a larger scheme at play. In the end, the Supreme Court intervenes, Vetri is pardoned, and he is released, leaving behind a story that scrutinizes revenge, manipulation, and the fragile line between justice and vengeance.
