What Is Vajont About?
The premise of Vajont without spoilers.
On October 9 1963, a massive landslide from Mount Toc plunged into the artificial lake behind Italy’s 263‑metre Vajont Dam, generating a wave over 250 metres high that swept away downstream villages and killed more than 2,000 people. Engineer Giorgio Semenza had overseen the dam’s construction, while journalist Tina Merlin warned for years of the danger and of political corruption, but her pleas were ignored until the tragedy unfolded.
