Spoilers ahead
Uuno Turhapuro [Vesa-Matti Loiri] is forced to complete his mandatory military service when it is revealed that he spent only one day in the army years earlier. As is typical of the Turhapuro comedies, his family and friends become deeply entangled in these events, pulling everyone into a whirl of bureaucratic mix-ups and comic misinterpretations. His friend Härski Hartikainen [Spede Pasanen] and Sörsselssön [Simo Salminen] head back to the army for a refresher course, while Uuno’s father-in-law, Councillor Tuura [Marita Nordberg], is unexpectedly elevated to the position of Finnish Defence Minister. The officers overseeing Uuno misread his presence as a covert mission to test the army’s leadership and conduct, and they scheme to keep him quiet by offering promotions.
