Manickam grows up in a poor village and shows little respect for his family, save for his uncle Manohar who lives in Chennai. When he decides to leave his village to stay with Manohar in the city, the story widens from a small-town dynamic to a larger web of schemes and ambitions. In Chennai, Manickam first encounters a glimpse of power and danger in the form of Roopini and Ramesh, who are involved in an illicit relationship, a secret he captures on video. This discovery becomes the fulcrum of his later manipulations, as he uses the footage to blackmail Roopini and extract money whenever he sees fit. The money he pockets fuels a series of bold moves and risky decisions, and soon he embarks on a trip to Australia with proceeds from his opportunistic plotting.

In Australia, Manickam meets Rosy, who presents herself as a very wealthy, respectable woman from a prestigious family. He is drawn to her and contemplates proposing, believing he has found someone who could change his fortunes. Yet Rosy disappears from the city just as he is ready to take the next step. The plot takes a sharp turn when Roopini phones him and reveals a startling twist: Rosy was sent by Roopini to lure Manickam, and she now demands the video cassette as payment if he wants to keep Rosy in his life. This revelation pulls Manickam back into the ongoing power play and compels him to chase Rosy to understand her true intentions and feelings.

Determined to secure Rosy’s love, Manickam discovers that she also harbors genuine feelings for him. Rosy urges him to abandon his conman lifestyle and even helps him find a legitimate job in a shop, signaling a possible shift toward honesty. For a moment, it seems like the couple might build something real and stable, away from the coercive influences that shaped Manickam’s earlier choices. Yet the shadow of manipulation lingers, as relationships in this world are entangled with money, pride, and the constant risk of exposure.

The tension peaks when Rosy’s stepmother becomes aware of the couple’s situation and presses for a hefty sum to sanction the marriage. To meet this demand, Manickam contemplates one final use of the cassette, hoping to level the playing field one last time. But the consequences spill over quickly: Sivaraj learns of the ongoing ruse, and Manickam pays over the demanded money to Rosy’s stepmother, arranging for Rosy to come to the airport the next day.

The climax intertwines violence, sacrifice, and a bittersweet finale. Sivaraj murders Ramesh, and Manickam fights off the goons sent by Sivaraj as he makes a desperate dash toward the airport. In a brutal confrontation, he is stabbed by Sivaraj just as he reaches his destination. The film closes with Rosy awaiting Manickam at the airport, leaving the audience to ponder the price of deceit and the fragile line between aspiration and crime.
