In Romania, theology student Allison, Kari Wuhrer, comes into possession of The Lexicon, a mysterious book of prophecies that writes itself. This uncanny tome contains a 23rd chapter of the Book of Revelation, unfinished but loaded with apocalyptic portent: the end of the war of angels and the name of the Antichrist. One of the fallen angels, Belial, now a demon, is determined to seize the book for himself. A good angel named Simon, Jason London, steps in to guide Allison, using the voices in her head to speak through her and to steer her toward safety, all while trying to keep the Lexicon out of Belial’s reach. The tension tightens as Belial begins to hunt the book by any brutal means, murdering people and slipping into their forms to mislead investigators and stay ahead of the truth.
Lucifer, disguised as Interpol agent John Riegert, John Light reaches out to Dani Simionescu, a police officer who, as a child, helped the Romanian secret police by sharing information about his parents. This past connection haunts Dani, whose baby sister was tortured, and who was separated from his family and adopted out. As the investigation unfolds, Lucifer, in the form of Riegert, reveals that Dani’s sister—whose fate has shadowed him since childhood—turned out to be Allison. The revelation tightens the noose around Allison and Dani as the pair navigate a web of manipulation, secrecy, and fear. During the search for Belial and the Lexicon, Riegert uses Dani as an unwitting intermediary to track down the demon and to locate the sister he just revealed, pulling Dani deeper into a dangerous alliance.
Belial’s pursuit grows more dangerous when his current host is taken, and Belial possesses one of Dani’s coworkers, Laurel, Doug Bradley. The possession marks a brutal escalation, turning ordinary environments into sites of threat and forcing the investigators to confront a demon who can mimic anyone and anything. The mounting danger leads Allison to a house—the site of horrific tortures from the past—where the voices in her head guide her toward the place where Belial cannot hurt her, Lucifer’s domain. Here, the layers of motive begin to peel back: the place is a battleground where evil and protection intersect, and where Lucifer proposes a cautious, morally gray path rather than direct intervention.
As the drama intensifies, Dani confesses his sins and seeks forgiveness, but his sister rebukes him, revealing still deeper strains within the family history and the moral compromises born from fear. Belial, once loyal to Lucifer, longs for the old, stark black-and-white morality that defined his early rebellion. Lucifer, however, resists this return to simpler times, preferring to prolong the fight to prevent a new Hell from emerging and to avoid crossing the line into outright guardianship. Dani, realizing that Belial needs a host, shoots Laurel in a bid to halt the demon’s control, but the confrontation takes a dark turn when Dani is possessed himself. Allison, torn between protecting her brother and breaking the cycle of violence, makes a fateful decision and kills her brother, after which Lucifer absorbs Belial’s soul, ending the immediate threat in his signature, ambiguous fashion.
At dawn, Lucifer speaks to Allison, indicating that the war among angels is over for the moment, even as he hints that the dust will inevitably rise again in the future. He offers a glimpse of what lies ahead and urges Allison to guard the Lexicon, emphasizing that the balance between light and dark remains fragile and that the book’s power must be kept safe for the times to come. Allison departs from the house, carrying the weight of what she has learned and the promise that the conflict is not truly over, but merely paused, with the Lexicon as the crucial key to what the future may hold.
