After his fiancée Valentine jilts him, prominent lawyer Geoffrey Sherwood drunkenly marries shop‑girl Miriam Brady. Determined to make the odd union work, they enlist their landlady—a former Floradora star—to polish Miriam’s manners. As Geoffrey’s old social circle resurfaces, Valentine returns, hoping for another chance. Miriam firmly rebuffs her, prompting Geoffrey to retreat to his club, choosing his new marriage over past temptations.
