The turning point arrives when she begins teaching creative writing at Eastern Oregon University, a vocation that reconnects her with the craft that started her journey. There, she meets Andy, a partner who has followed her career for years. Although she initially resists expanding her family again, Andy convinces her that she deserves motherhood, and they welcome a son, Miles. The film closes on a hopeful, intimate image: the young family swimming together at a lake, with Lidia reflecting on the healing power of water and the sustaining promise of storytelling for a life rebuilt from trauma.
