It all starts with a introspective monologue by Crunch Calhoun, as he settles into a seven-year prison term, a consequence of betrayal by his brother, Nicky Calhoun. The narrative delves into a flashback that illustrates a heist gone awry, where a gangster had sought to authenticate a stolen painting. Nicky, along with Church, manages to bribe a professor to conduct a quick 15-minute density scan on the artwork. During this brief window, Church cleverly switches the original masterpiece for a forged copy, only to be thwarted by Nicky, who inadvertently sets off alarm bells, resulting in his arrest. Faced with a stark choice of a lengthy prison sentence or turning informant, Nicky opts to implicate Church, thus sealing his fate in incarceration.

Upon his release from prison, Crunch endeavors to carve out a new life as a motorcycle stunt performer and daredevil, working closely with his girlfriend Lola and his enthusiastic apprentice, Francie. Meanwhile, Nicky is back in the game, not hesitating to pilfer a painting by Georges Seurat, aided by a partner whom he later betrays. This partner, feeling wronged, confronts Crunch demanding to know Nicky’s whereabouts, which leads Crunch to reach out to an old friend, ‘Uncle’ Paddy.

At Paddy’s place, tensions flare as Crunch and Nicky have a heated encounter but eventually put aside their differences to team up with Paddy. The plan? To steal a priceless historical book from a Canadian Customs warehouse and deliver it to a buyer’s intermediary in Detroit, with a staggering payout of over a million dollars on the line. Determined to succeed, Crunch insists on bringing in his old associate, Guy De Cornet, renowned for his forgery skills. Guy creates an impeccable replica of the historical book, which Crunch attempts to smuggle across the Canadian border hidden within an unusual art piece. However, complications arise when police impound his art for an identity check, just as planned, at the facility housing the coveted book.

Meanwhile, Guy cleverly poses as an art authentication specialist and infiltrates the facility, seamlessly replacing the original book with the forgery and cleverly hiding the real book in Crunch’s art piece. After being cleared by the Canadian border patrol, Crunch retrieves his art and prepares to move forward with their operation. However, during the process of transporting the book to the buyer, Nicky cleverly persuades Crunch to hold onto the book and produce multiple forgeries to maximize their profit. When Cornet informs the team of the hefty sum required for such high-quality forgeries, Crunch agrees to cover the remaining balance after some convincing. They all agree to remain out of contact for a month while they prepare for the sale.

As that month unfolds, Nicky clandestinely devises his own scheme to create cheaper forgeries in an attempt to outsmart his partners. When he reaches out to the original buyer, claiming a delay, he discovers to his horror that there is no deal in place, sparking a frantic series of calls to everyone involved in the heist, only to find them unreachable or unaware of the situation at hand.

Amidst all this, Crunch shares a revelation with his apprentice Francie, revealing that the historical book was merely a distraction, and the true aim was to abscond with the Seurat painting while leveraging Nicky’s plan for multiple forgeries. Flashbacks indicate that Francie was the only one kept in the dark about the true intentions. Meanwhile, Interpol receives an anonymous tip regarding Nicky’s location and the stolen painting.

In a twist of fate, the conclusion unveils the final player in Crunch’s scheme, an old colleague, Samual Winters, who had partnered with an Interpol agent tracking the team from the very beginning. Crunch succeeds in stealing the actual Seurat painting from Nicky and enlists Guy to produce ten forgeries. He then cunningly places one of the forgeries in Nicky’s suitcase. When Nicky is apprehended with it, Samual testifies that it is indeed the authentic Seurat, while Paddy has successfully arranged for ten buyers for the forgeries. This masterful con allows Crunch and his crew to pocket a staggering 20 million dollars. In a final gesture, Crunch gifts the real Seurat to Samual, sealing their friendship amidst a sea of deception and clever scheming.
