It all starts with a introspective monologue by Crunch Calhoun, as he settles into a seven-year prison term, a consequence of betrayal by his brother, Nicky Calhoun. The narrative delves into a flashback that illustrates a heist gone awry, where a gangster had sought to authenticate a stolen painting. Nicky, along with Church, manages to bribe a professor to conduct a quick 15-minute density scan on the artwork. During this brief window, Church cleverly switches the original masterpiece for a forged copy, only to be thwarted by Nicky, who inadvertently sets off alarm bells, resulting in his arrest.
