Srinivas “Vasu” is a traditional-minded architect who believes that marriage is more than a ceremony—it is a lifelong festival of togetherness. He lives away from his family, and his cousin Padmavathi, affectionately called Paddu, is secretly in love with him and plans to propose when he returns home.

In Chandigarh, Vasu crosses paths with Sridevi “Sri” Raashii Khanna, who earns a living through a variety of small jobs. Their chance encounter blossoms into affection, and the two gradually realize they are meant to be together. The spark between them grows stronger after the wedding of their mutual friend Priya, Lahari Shari, and they come to understand that their bond could endure life’s ups and downs.

Sri, a wealthy girl, lives a simpler life under the watch of her father, R. K., who believes in understanding people before diving into business. He views marriage as a significant event, not something to be rushed or wasted. Vasu respectfully shares his feelings and seeks R. K.’s blessing. The two families meet, and while Paddu is disappointed, the alliance seems to be approved.

Yet a premarital agreement becomes a flashpoint. R. K. asks Vasu to sign the papers, which Vasu does, and then expects him to pledge to be involved in every decision the bride’s father makes. Through his words and actions, Vasu gradually shifts R. K.’s perspective on traditional arranged marriages. On the wedding day, excitement turns tense when Sri’s sister Kavya uncovers the agreement papers, and Paddu openly confesses her love for Vasu. He makes it clear that he has always treated Paddu as a friend and would not return her feelings.

As the ceremony unfolds, Vasu realizes the secret of the agreement cannot stand. He apologizes to his family, until Kavya arrives with the document. R. K. then speaks about the transformative effect Vasu has had on him, ultimately tearing up the papers. Sri forgives Vasu, and the couple exchanges vows, beginning their life together blessed with mutual respect and affection.

In the closing notes, the film suggests how one wedding can ripple outward, changing lives far beyond the couple themselves—such as Kavya reconciling with her husband Siddhu, who was the target of her prior divorce efforts, illustrating how love and understanding can alter many intertwining relationships.
