In 1969, two university friends and self-styled tinkers with a knack for hacking—Martin Bishop and Cosmo—set out to redirect money from what they regard as evil to causes that could use a helping hand. Their early mischief skirts the line between playful misdirection and real-world consequences, and when Martin steps out to grab a meal, the police descend and confiscate Cosmo, forcing Martin into a shadowy hiding place. What begins as a prank of sorts evolves into something more layered and dangerous, laying the groundwork for a life he will later reinvent under a false identity.
