In a gripping tale of technology and betrayal, the story unfolds with Michael Bergstrom, the United States Undersecretary of Defense portrayed by Ken Howard, who tragically takes his own life after discovering he is HIV positive. Enter Angela Bennett, an exceptional freelance systems analyst played by Sandra Bullock, who resides in the sun-soaked ambiance of Venice, California. Angela’s life is largely lived out through the digital realm, working remotely for Cathedral Software based in San Francisco. Her human interactions are deeply limited, often resulting in a profound sense of isolation, a feeling compounded by her relationship with her mother, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease in an institution.
