The premise of Sénéchal the Magnificent without spoilers.
Sénéchal, a provincial actor with the Tournées Carlini, longs for fame. In Dreux he loses his luggage, appears in a Foreign Legion uniform and is invited to a colonel’s party, where he dazzles guests and catches the colonel’s wife’s eye. Back in Paris he is mistaken for a diplomat at a wedding, charms the crowd, is arrested, refuses a lawyer, and wins acquittal with his eloquent speech, wondering if those who applaud him will ever see him onstage.
