In 1971, actress Jennifer is institutionalized after psychotic visions on a film set. Upon release she becomes stranded in the desert, where a colorful band of nomadic rebels rescues her. Helpless, she joins them and they ignore a local’s warning about an abandoned house, using it as a crash pad. Jennifer’s unsettling visions worsen, blurring reality, and the rebels are killed one by one, fulfilling the legend of the “Slaughterhouse of the Rising Sun.”
