Jim Drummond, Tim Holt, stands firm against the pressure to sell his land when a scheming duo aims to cash in on the coming railroad. Greeley, [Ernie Adams], a land agent, teams up with Rankin, [LeRoy Mason], a ruthless railroad purchasing agent, to buy up ranches before the rails arrive. When Jim refuses to part with his property, Rankin and Greeley enlist henchmen to manufacture a crime that can ruin him. They stage a deadly trap, framing Jim for the murder of fellow rancher Williams, and have him hauled off by stage to Blue Mesa for a speedy, crooked trial. The escape plan seems foolproof until a brutal assault on the stage—killing the driver and a deputy who escort Jim—changes the course of the scheme.
