Spoilers ahead
Perón edges closer to returning to Argentina, but before stepping back onto the mainland he dedicates himself to recording his exile in a series of tapes that chart the arc of his absence. He opens with the dramatic moments that forced him into exile: the bombing at Plaza de Mayo and the Revolución Libertadora military coup that toppled his government and sent him abroad. During this turbulent separation, he crosses paths with the Argentine dancer María Estela Martínez in Panama, a connection that lingers as she stays by his side for a period before they part ways. His journey then carries him to Spain, where a new circle forms around him: his doctor and a tailor named Sofía, a duo who, intriguingly enough, do not recognize him at first.
