In the tranquil Spiti valley, Kaaya Udita Goswami grows up dreaming of joining a Buddhist monastery, a path her father Mohan Agashe has nurtured since childhood. When Lama Norbu Denzil Smith, a senior lama from the monastery, dreams that the reincarnated monk Rinpoche has returned, he sends Kaaya to Delhi to fetch him back to their monastery. Kaaya manages to retrieve the child, but on the way back, the hotel scene turns grim as the police officer is murdered. The investigation is handed to Shiven John Abraham, who bars Kaaya and the boy from returning home. The boy identifies Raj Mehra Gulshan Grover as the killer, and Shiven quickly finds himself in a web of intrigue and deceit where trust is scarce. He is forced to flee to Spiti with Kaaya and the boy, whom he vows to protect. Shiven is badly injured, and upon reaching Spiti, he receives care at Kaaya’s home.

While nursing him back to health, Kaaya experiences a pull toward Shiven, a feeling she has long suppressed in her pursuit of the ultimate truth. Shiven also finds himself drawn to Kaaya, a girl unlike any he has known before. Kaaya faces a dilemma, for she has long subdued her basic instincts and desires in pursuit of the “sin” (paap) of sexuality that her conditioned mind deems wrong—but one she cannot deny. Shiven recognizes there is a life with a full right to live ahead of her. In the meantime, Kaaya’s father grows furious at Shiven, viewing him as a corrupting influence who has brought pistols and trouble into their quiet home. As Mehra’s men close in, Shiven’s past resurfaces, and the trio must endure chaos and threats that test their loyalty and resilience.

After much upheaval, Shiven and Kaaya are shown reuniting with a passionate kiss in the climax.
