In the early 1970s ABC turns NFL broadcasts into a national showcase. Executive Roone Arledge hires former Cowboys quarterback Don 'Dandy' Meredith, announcer Keith Jackson, and Howard Cosell, whose banter makes the booth a must‑watch event. When Jackson leaves, star Frank Gifford replaces him, sparking clashes with Cosell, ABC cements dominance.
