What Is Mitra About?
The premise of Mitra without spoilers.
In winter 2012, Iranian psychoanalyst Mitra Kadivar was involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital in Tehran. While there, she began a series of email exchanges with Jacques-Alain Miller, the founder of the World Association of Psychoanalysis. Years later, in summer 2017, an artistic team used these correspondence as inspiration to create an opera, incorporating elements of the Montperrin psychiatric hospital in Aix-en-Provence into the production.
