Machu is an orphan who becomes rich by selling scrap, a rise that begins in a large hall at a bottle-recycling factory in Kochi. He starts off humble and uneducated, keeping a low profile as he moves through life with restraint. He finds companionship in his two close friends, Shukkoor and Narayanan, and his business soon expands beyond the hall with branches across India.
Everything shifts when Andrews Perreira, an Anglo-Indian investor, entangles him in a scheme that lures Machu into investing all his wealth into Perreira’s company. Perreira crafts a dramatic scene, even feigning a suicide attempt to color the transaction with urgency. Believing the story, Machu and several other innocent investors are moved to forgive him, thinking the fault lies elsewhere, not in the manipulator’s craft.
Hope arrives when Diana, Perreira’s daughter, enters Machu’s life and a marriage seems possible. But the path to happiness is blocked by a cruel betrayal: Perreira swaps his daughter with the neighbor’s daughter, an old friend of Machu’s, on the wedding day. The couple’s dream collapses as Perreira and his daughter disappear to Singapore, leaving Machu and his companions to pick up the pieces.
From that moment, the film pivots to a brisk, humorous pursuit. Machu and his loyal friends chase the elusive pair through Singapore, confronting a series of comic misadventures as they try to reunite with Diana and expose Perreira’s deceit.
Supporting threads include Diana’s family, notably Sukumari who plays Diana’s aunt, adding warmth to the story as the characters navigate greed, trust, and resilience.
