Giri Shankar is a young CPO in his village police station, a keen observer with a knack for spotting clues. His talents earn him praise from his seniors, Pillai and Sukumaran Nair, though they fuel the envy of a few fellow constables. Giri moves through his days with a steady, patient focus, and he often grows frustrated with villagers who dismiss him or talk down to him.

When a tense clash with authority unfolds, [Pillai] scolds Giri for pushing ahead with a drug-smuggling case against a young man who told him to remember his place as a constable. The confrontation signals a shift in the power dynamics at the station: [Pillai] retires, and a new CI, Harilal, arrives with a brittle ego and a sudden, blunt disrespect for Giri. The humiliation during a Kabbadi match leaves Harilal hungry for revenge, and he seeks the assistance of an aging thief, Maniyan, who teaches him how to steal from neighbors.

As Harilal and two other constables spiral into incompetence, they are suspended after failing to crack a string of robberies. Back at the station, Giri finds his own compulsion growing stronger; a bungled attempt to rob a man named Ramakrishna lands him in deeper trouble, forcing him to flee to Tamil Nadu. The next day brings a grim discovery: Ramakrishna has been found hanging from a tree, echoing a scene Giri had witnessed earlier in the story. Confronted with a growing sense that a serial killer is at work, Giri confesses his guilt to Pillai, who—though saddened and angry—tries to help him confront his disorder through counselling with a psychiatrist.

Pillai agrees to support Giri while he pursues answers in Tamil Nadu, but Senthil Kumar, another constable, reveals a troubling pattern: those who died in similar circumstances left behind mysterious letters, hinting at a deeper plot. This clue leads Giri to a broader connection among the victims, and a conversation with Acharyan—a former teacher who explains that one pupil was expelled for reading an illegal book and dabbling in prohibited black magic. The investigation points to Karupp Durai as the man behind the manipulation.

Tracking Durai to an abandoned temple, Giri discovers that Durai practicing black magic has corrupted others, including Lakshmi who has been hypnotized and used as an ally in his dark rituals. In a harrowing confrontation, both Durai and Lakshmi close in on Giri in a bid to hang him, but he escapes and manages to subdue Lakshmi. Durai tries to wake her, but Giri locks the noose around Durai’s neck, ending his reign of terror. Lakshmi is saved and rushed to the hospital, while the dust gradually settles around the investigation.

A few days later, Pillai and Sukumaran return to Giri’s home with news that he has been selected to join the Special Task Force. The moment is tempered by a sobering update: a robbery has occurred the night before, and Pillai stares at Giri, quietly signaling that his old urge to break into homes may still lurk beneath the surface.
