The film opens with the shocking murder of Priti Divya Dutta, wife of Shekhar Aftab Shivdasani, a wealthy and widely known journalist. The investigation, led by Inspector Lokhande, quickly circles back to Shekhar, with the police presenting what they claim is solid evidence enough to arrest and convict him. After he secures bail, Shekhar asks his lawyer to defend him, but the lawyer admits he’s a corporate attorney who handles civil cases and cannot fight this criminal matter. He instead points Shekhar toward the formidable Simran Bhargav Lisa Ray, a renowned criminal lawyer in the same firm, urging him to persuade her to take the case.

From the moment Simran steps into the fray, she makes clear she’ll defend Shekhar only if she’s convinced of his innocence. The motive behind her hesitation is a haunting personal guilt: in a previous case, she helped convict a man who was innocent, a decision that backfired when the real culprit confessed later and the innocent man died in custody. This weight of failure gnaws at her as she weighs the possibility of defending Shekhar.

As Simran begins to represent Shekhar, whom she believes is innocent, a complicated emotional dynamic unfolds. The defendant and the attorney grow closer, and they eventually share a night together, a move that is carefully woven into Shekhar’s broader plan to win her trust. Throughout the courtroom drama, a mysterious man sends cryptic clues to Simran; these messages guide her and ultimately help her uncover elements that support Shekhar’s innocence. Meanwhile, it’s revealed that Shekhar was involved in an extramarital affair with another woman, and his wife Priti was having an affair of her own with Jimmy Pereira. The revelations devastate Simran, making her question the morality of the case and stirring doubts about the people around them. Amidst the turmoil, Amit urges her to stay the course and keep fighting for justice.

After a tense legal battle, the court proclaims Shekhar innocent, and Simran marks a tentative emotional victory as she spends the night with Shekhar at his home. The morning after, while rummaging through his closet, Simran discovers a hidden typewriter tucked between the sheets. The typewriter is the same tool used by the mysterious man to compose the clue letters that had haunted her—each typed letter carries a telltale flyaway ‘t’ that confirms the connection.

With this discovery, Simran pieces together the truth: Shekhar is not only the murderer but also the accomplice of the mysterious man who had been sending the letters. She contacts Inspector Lokhande to report the typewriter and the emerging evidence. Lokhande asks her to bring the device to the police station, but Simran’s confidence falters as Shekhar presses to dinner and reconciliation. He senses that she now knows the truth, and he races to her home in a bid to silence her. In a tense confrontation, Simran defends herself and kills him in self-defense, bringing the case to a grim close. In the aftermath, she reconciles with Amit, grappling with the consequences of truth and justice.
