Suman and Amit fall in love and dream of a wedding filled with warmth and everyday joys. He works as a college teacher, while his younger brother, Raju, is unemployed and a little spoiled by the pampering he receives from Amit and Suman. Neeta, Raju’s fiancée, stands beside the couple as life unfolds, even as troubles begin to gather in the background.

Raju spirals into bad company, and when [Amit] steps in to help, tragedy strikes and he is killed. Grief-stricken, Suman wraps herself in the garb of a widow and vows not to remarry, choosing a path of quiet resilience rather than renewal.

Then a stranger arrives—Shankar, a look-alike of Amit, who unsettles the familiar rhythms of the household and the town alike.
