Madhavan, Mammootty, is a simple village man who discovers the film bug early in life and, choosing passion over studies, becomes a roaming projectionist. He travels the countryside with a small 16 mm projector, turning temple festivals and public gatherings into intimate cinema experiences under open skies. With his wife Lakshmi, Padmapriya Janakiraman, and their daughter at home, he builds a life centered on reels, shared stories, and the joy films bring to their community.

One day, Madhavan encounters a six-year-old boy displaced from Gujarat after the devastating 2001 earthquake, separated from his family. The man opens his home to the boy, caring for him as if he were his own son, and the household grows to love him. Yet the dream of formal adoption remains out of reach due to legal constraints, and the boy is eventually placed in a juvenile home. When allegations of ill-treatment surface, they are ultimately dismissed, but the incident draws media attention and public scrutiny.

Motivated by a sense of responsibility, Madhavan travels to Gujarat with the boy, hoping to locate the family or secure a future for him. At a disaster relief camp, he confronts the painful reality that the boy’s relatives may be dead, and legal hurdles prevent any swift resolution. The search yields few answers, and with a heavy heart he returns to Kerala, where his own family awaits. The journey leaves him with a deeper empathy for those displaced by tragedy and a renewed commitment to the power of cinema to connect and comfort people in difficult times.

The story unfolds with a quiet tenderness, emphasizing how ordinary acts of kindness—sharing a film, opening one’s home, offering a shoulder to lean on—can ripple outward in surprising ways.
