In the week leading up to Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation in 1953, two young Dorset children, John and Julie, are determined to witness the historic moment, even though their parents aren’t planning to take them. When the pair are left to their own devices, they hatch a plan to travel to London to see John’s Uncle Ben, a Life Guards officer who, they believe, “knows the queen.” Their street-level adventure kicks off with a bold bid for the capital.
