Gangaram Verma Kader Khan is a man of ideals and a government servant who hates bribes. He lives in his ancestral house with his wife and their son, Vijay Shakti Kapoor, a man whose hunger for wealth often puts him at odds with his father’s ethics. Vijay marries Sapna Shoma Anand, a wealthy young woman, and becomes ghar jamai, moving into Sapna’s family life. Sapna’s father-in-law, a builder, has his eye on Gangaram’s ancestral property, and he, along with Vijay and Sapna, begins to push Gangaram out of his own home. Yet despite the pressure, Gangaram and his wife raise their grandson Ravi Neil Nitin Mukesh with steadfast values, hoping to pass along the old-fashioned moral code to the next generation.
As Vijay expands by building on the old property, Sapna and Vijay start showing their true colors, leaving Gangaram to grapple with deceit and the erosion of trust within the family. The bond between Ravi and his grandparents grows stronger, and the child’s presence anchors the story with warmth and integrity, even as the family’s shifting dynamics threaten to unravel. Ravi’s attachment to his grandparents becomes a quiet counterpoint to the city’s rush toward wealth and status, underscoring the film’s core tensions between ethics and ambition.
When the story leaps forward, the now grown Ravi confronts the harsh realities of his parents’ choices. The beloved grandson, who has long admired his grandparents, witnesses their decline and decides to act—driven by a desire to teach his parents a hard, candid lesson about consequences and responsibility. Radha Kimi Katkar, who is in love with Ravi, stands by him and lends her support as he navigates this complicated moral landscape, helping to drive the plan that aims to awaken his parents to the mistakes they’ve made.
Throughout, the film circles back to a timeless proverb: What you sow, you shall reap. The narrative uses this theme to explore how intentions, even when rooted in love or reform, can ripple outward in unexpected ways, eventually forcing a reckoning for the family. With its blend of family drama, loyalty, and moral conflict, the story remains focused on the consequences of choices made in pursuit of wealth and social standing, and on how a child’s unwavering affection for his elders can illuminate the path back to honesty and accountability.
