In a post‑WWII 1960s Cold War, the Eastern Federal Republic of Zirnitra and the Western United Kingdom of Arnack race to launch humanity’s first spaceflight. Leader Gergiev unveils Project Mechtat, while a covert “Nosferatu Project” trains vampire Irina Luminesk as the inaugural astronaut. Substitute candidate Lev Leps is assigned to supervise her, and despite political rivalry they form a genuine partnership as they pursue the stars.
