Being childless haunts Sriram and Seeta, a couple with trustworthy characters. When his anxious father pushes them to see a doctor to help them conceive, they reluctantly consult Dr. Amaram. Sriram suspects that Seeta cannot bear a child, yet he lies to both her and his father about his own supposed shortcomings. The truth gradually surfaces, and Kota Srinivasa Rao discovers the deception, urging him to consider a second marriage. In an effort to escape the pressure, Sriram agrees to wed again only after returning from a business trip to Nepal, and the family keeps this arrangement hidden from Seeta.
In Nepal, Sriram meets Manisha, and due to a mistake by his friend Giri, Brahmanandam, he ends up marrying her. Manisha learns of the marriage with a heavy heart, but she does not openly defy the situation. She conceals the truth from the monks of her faith and endures a painful tradition that prescribes shaving her head and life as a widow, while Sriram is told to leave the place. Yet when Sriram becomes aware of Manisha’s looming punishment, he regrets the situation and realizes that she truly loves him. He returns to India to tell his father the truth, but is surprised when his father changes his mind, recognizing that Seeta has fulfilled the role of daughter-in-law in a way no one else could, and they decide to keep the truth hidden.
Months pass, and Sriram learns that Manisha is pregnant with his child. He brings her to India and keeps her staying at Giri’s house, where she gives birth to a boy. The couple agrees to pretend the child is an orphan so that he can be adopted by Sriram and Seeta and raised with all the family’s wealth. After Seeta adopts Manisha’s son, Manisha leaves quietly, carrying sorrow in her heart. As the child grows, Sriram’s father learns more about Manisha and brings her back to India, hoping to reunite the family. He pushes for a life together with Seeta and Manisha, but Sriram remains wary.
A chain of events leads Manisha to become a maid in Seeta and Sriram’s home, and Seeta suspects that Manisha’s husband ran away. Jealousy grows as Manisha’s closeness to Sriram, his father, and the child deepens. Seeta arranges for Manisha to be married off, but Sriram intervenes during a formal meeting and the truth becomes clear. Though Giri tries to explain, Seeta feels deceived and accuses Sriram and Manisha. In a loud confrontation, Sriram’s father reveals that Sriram has no shortcomings and that Seeta herself is infertile, and that the child is Manisha’s son, whom she sacrificed for Seeta’s sake. Realizing her mistake, Seeta stops Manisha from leaving, and Manisha accepts with grace after her son addresses her as a mother. In the end, Giri and the elder man warmly welcome the trio home, choosing a future built on honesty, forgiveness, and family.
