Two families chase a foreclosure and a quiet getaway, drawn to a seemingly flawless house perched on seventy private acres. Charlie Hays arrives with his daughter Emmy and his second wife Susan, hoping the property will serve as a fresh start and, quietly, a chance to coax a uneasy relationship into something steadier. Across the road, Don Thomson, his wife Leslie, and their live‑in son Jason join the search, carrying with them the ache of a recent accident and a sense that luck is, for once, on their side. A man in a red hat appears with a brochure for the same place, nudging both families toward a shared, unsettling decision.

When they reach the house, they find it vacant and eerily quiet, a scene that should promise a new beginning but instead sows a creeping unease. On the return trip to fetch the realtor’s contact, a near‑miss with a distressed girl named Hanna—whose tongue has been cruelly removed—hastens the sense that something is terribly wrong about the place. With Hanna injured and pleading to be taken elsewhere, the two families make a grave choice to bring her to a hospital, even as the house’s pull draws them back.

What begins as a strange coincidence quickly spirals into a disturbing loop: the road seems to rearrange itself, and every return to the property tightens the grip of an impossible pattern. The house seems to provide for seven, offering seven cans of stew for seven people, but the supply soon dwindles to six, exposing the fault lines in each traveler’s nerves. Tensions flare between Leslie and Susan, and the air fills with whispers of past traumas. Emmy begins to glimpse a man who was killed along with the boy’s mother, while Susan senses that there are truths the house isn’t ready to reveal.

As the days turn into a surreal month, visions intensify. Leslie’s dead daughter Lizzy appears in the glass, and her presence becomes more troubling as the family’s resources run dry. Emmy experiences spectral visits from her own history, and the unsettling pattern intensifies when Charlie and Emmy both glimpse a woman with a shredded throat—someone connected to their own hidden past. Charlie confides in Emmy about a mother who abandoned them long ago, but the truth feels more elusive than ever, as Susan’s secrets seem to outpace even the house’s ominous patience.

Guided by clues left by Hanna and by a puzzle that seems to map the house’s trap, Emmy attempts a desperate escape—walk backwards toward the road in a bid to end the cycle. The plan is interrupted when Jason makes a violent advance toward Emmy; Hanna acts in defense, striking him with a log, and Jason collapses in a fatal accident of his own making. Don’s paranoia peaks, and he tries to break free to save them, only to be overcome by the increasingly hostile, claustrophobic reality of the place.

A startling confession from Jason layers the horror: he admits to striking down a jogger, not a deer, confirming that the house has claimed another victim. Don finally makes a bid to remove the Hayses from the trap, but Susan, frightened and emboldened by fear, turns on him and ends his life with an axe. The house, meanwhile, stops feeding them, and Charlie’s grip on reality unravels. A ghostly attack—this time of the woman Jason killed—seals a fatal turn for Charlie, who, convinced by a vision that Susan has betrayed and corrupted Emmy, lashes out in a frenzy. He murders Susan with a stew can, his mind tethered to a distorted belief about the past.

Emmy and Hanna flee, with Charlie in pursuit, driven by a dangerous mix of fear and obsession. Emmy’s resolve hardens as she believes that leaving Hanna behind could grant them a chance to escape altogether, and she finally shoots the fleeing Charlie after a brutal confrontation. They push toward the road, hoping to find safety, only to discover that the home’s grim contest has drawn in another family—another set of strangers to become part of the endless cycle.

As the road beckons, the house’s uncanny power resumes its work. Hanna’s fate is sealed in a cruel moment of final ritual: the Realtor, a figure of authority and complicity, severs Emmy’s tongue, a cruel reminder that the cycle begins anew with every fresh arrival. Emmy is left in the car, stunned and speechless, while the old pattern reasserts itself—two families drawn to the same promise, the same trap—until the road becomes a corridor to the same nightmare once again.
