The premise of Hamsun without spoilers.
Their marriage spanned betrayal and love, shifting from reverence to hatred. Knut Hamsun, Norway’s author, blamed the English for wartime famine. When Germany occupied Norway on 9 April 1940, he welcomed them as protection from Britain. He condemned the brutal enforcement, denouncing Norwegians' jailing and execution, and his wife Marie went to Germany.
