Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar (2022): Cast & Ratings

In terms of direction and visual design, the movie receives both commendation and criticism. Positive notes highlight dynamic action choreography and detailed background sets that capture the series' aesthetic. Conversely, numerous reviewers point to cheap costumes, jarring green‑screen effects, and inconsistent editing that diminish the film’s cinematic quality. Overall, the visual craft is seen as uneven, leaning toward a modest presentation.

When evaluating acting and character depth, opinions are largely unfavorable. Some viewers appreciate the likable personalities and the focus on Scar’s motivations, yet many cite stiff delivery, over‑the‑top expressions, and insufficient development for key figures. The lack of nuanced performances and chemistry undermines emotional engagement, leading to an overall perception of weak character portrayal.

Regarding plot and pacing, the film presents a mixed picture. Reviewers commend its faithful adherence to the original storyline and the coherent focus on the antagonist, which provides clear narrative drive. However, criticism centers on an excessively long runtime, rushed segments, and an unfinished feel that leaves the story feeling dense and uneven. The overall narrative impact is therefore moderate.

The sensory experience receives varied feedback. Positive remarks highlight occasional impressive special effects and a soundtrack that complements action sequences. In contrast, many critics point to jarring green‑screen visuals, subpar sound mixing, and an overall cheap aesthetic that disrupts immersion. Consequently, the audio‑visual cohesion is viewed as inconsistent, hovering between moments of competence and noticeable technical flaws.

Assessing replay value, the movie elicits both enthusiasm and reluctance. Some fans enjoy the focus on Scar and consider it a standout live‑action entry worth revisiting with friends. Yet the pervasive technical shortcomings, uneven pacing, and incomplete story arc discourage repeat viewings for many. Overall, the film’s lasting appeal is limited, appealing mainly to dedicated series enthusiasts.
