Fullmetal Alchemist: The Final Alchemy (2022): Cast & Ratings

Regarding the film’s art and craft, the cinematography and production design receive modest acknowledgment for occasional strong moments, yet the visual execution is marred by cheap CGI and inconsistent special effects. Editing is noted as competent by a few, but overall the technical quality feels uneven and under‑budgeted.

When evaluating character and emotion, the performances are widely criticized for lack of depth and wooden delivery, leading many viewers to feel the protagonists are diluted versions of their source material. Conversely, some audience members appreciate the chemistry and find the characters endearing, especially fans familiar with the original story. The overall impression remains mixed, leaning toward disappointment in acting quality.

In terms of story and flow, the narrative is repeatedly identified as rushed and fragmented, with crucial plot points either omitted or presented without sufficient context. Reviewers note excessive exposition followed by abrupt action, causing confusion for newcomers and frustration for fans. While a minority acknowledges the underlying complexity of the source material, the film’s condensed structure ultimately hampers coherent storytelling.

Regarding sensory experience, the film’s soundtrack and sound design receive little specific praise, while visual style suffers from low‑budget CGI and unconvincing special effects. Several reviewers describe the effects as amateurish, detracting from immersion. Although occasional action sequences provide brief visual interest, the overall sensory execution is considered inconsistent and diminishes the fantasy atmosphere.

The rewatch factor is mixed; fans of the original anime find brief nostalgic value and enjoy revisiting key moments, while most viewers criticize the lack of depth and technical flaws that reduce repeatability. Some consider the film a one‑time fan service experience, whereas others deem it insufficiently engaging for subsequent viewings, leading to a modest overall appeal.
