The brothers, driven by a stubborn blend of kindness and curiosity, hope that Svengarlic’s famed hypnotic act might unlock a path to Mary’s renewed independence and happiness. Their shared goal pulls them toward a chance to improve her situation, and they decide to seek Svengarlic’s services, believing his stagecraft could offer real rehabilitation and hope.
