Spoilers ahead
It is the spring of 1984, and in a quaint, middle-class suburb of New Jersey, young Jake Livingston finds his world spiraling into chaos. The film opens with the blatant sounds of 80’s pop-rock blaring from a clock radio, heralding the arrival of what could only be described as an era of tumultuous change. As Jake peers out of his bedroom window, he spots a Chevy Blazer pulling into the driveway, where his mother gives the mysterious driver a kiss goodnight. This man is a stranger to Jake, and little does he know, he is about to disrupt the peaceful, albeit sometimes mundane, life he shares with his family.
