What Is Erasmus Montanus About?
The premise of Erasmus Montanus without spoilers.
After a costly education in Copenhagen, Danish farmer’s son Rasmus Berg returns home speaking only Latin and adopts the name Erasmus Montanus. Obsessed with academic disputation, he attempts to demonstrate absurd claims—famously arguing that his mother is a rock. His rationalism clashes with his brother Jacob, who values practical, useful knowledge.
