Mike Riggins, Dolph Lundgren, is a former US Marine lingering in a Bulgarian prison after being accused of weapon smuggling. He endures the harsh surroundings and uses the same disciplined instincts that kept him alive in combat to fend off jailhouse attackers.

Michael Paré as Clive Connelly, a high-ranking government figure, arrives with a tempting deal: rescue Ana Gale Gina May from Vlado Karadjov Vladimir Vladimirov and bring her back unharmed for a hefty payoff. Mike accepts, hoping the mission might finally clear his name or at least settle his situation with money.

Once Ana is out of Vlado’s compound and in Mike’s custody, it becomes clear that Connelly’s plan is more intricate than a simple kidnapping. The rescue serves Connelly’s broader agenda, and the man Vlado once trusted has his own schemes at stake. General Drago [Bashar Rahal], who previously aligned with Vlado, has betrayed him for money and now works with Connelly to ensure Ana is controlled and Mike is eliminated.

Ana Gale works for a humanitarian organization; she arrived in the region two years earlier after a meningitis outbreak. Vlado enlisted her to help care for his hemophiliac son, and in the process, Ana becomes entangled with a powerful family drama. Ana is also revealed to be the daughter of American billionaire Alastair Robbins, who died of a heart condition shortly before the story’s present events. Alastair’s past—an affair with Ana’s mother, Ana’s complex reaction to him, and her eventual estrangement from him—forms a key undercurrent in the conflict. With Alastair’s death, Ana inherits a controlling stake in Robbins Industries on paper, but Trent Robbins [James Chalke], Ana’s uncle, seeks to seize real control by forcing her to sign a share transfer deed.

As the plot unfolds, Trent, Connelly, and Drago intensify their pursuit. Trent flies into Bulgaria to take direct control, while Mike and Ana’s bond deepens into something personal. Vlado, who tries to support them, is killed by Drago, underscoring the lethal stakes of the corporate power struggle and the personal loyalties at play. Ana is shaken by how far Trent is willing to go to get his hands on the company.

The couple finds brief sanctuary in an empty barn, where Mike opens up about his past. He explains that his Marines service carried him to Kosovo during the Yugoslav wars, witnessing horrors no one should endure. His experience pushed him to leave the front lines and start moving weapons out of war zones, a choice that led to his arrest for gun running years earlier. This memory clarifies Mike’s resolve: he will protect Ana at all costs, even as the villains close in.

Their pursuit leads to a tense sequence near the U.S. embassy, where Trent, Connelly, and Drago deploy the men they control to finish the job. The confrontation culminates in a brutal showdown: Mike overpowers Drago and disables him with a sustained confrontation, and then turns his fury on Connelly. In a dramatic moment, Mike stashes a hand grenade down Connelly’s shirt, pulls the pin, and kicks him out a window, the grenade exploding mid-air. Trent appears to have the upper hand momentarily, shooting Mike in the shoulder before Ana retaliates with a decisive shot that ends Trent’s bid for control.

With the immediate danger gone, Mike recovers from his injuries, and Ana inherits Alastair’s company in name, setting the stage for a future that might finally allow them to start anew. The film closes on their decision to leave their peril behind and head toward a new life together, hinting at a future built on mutual trust rather than compromised loyalties.
