Dagger Eyes 1983

In Rome, Mystère is a high-class French prostitute who works in the city’s shadows. When her friend and colleague Pamela steals a gold lighter from a German client and hides it in her purse, chaos erupts: the German man and Pamela are killed in quick succession, and Inspector Colt saves Mystère from an assault. This brutal moment pulls Mystère and Colt into a subtle, uneasy partnership that sets them at the center of a sprawling international intrigue.

The man behind the violence is revealed to be more than a simple killer. The German was a photographer who had captured compromising shots of an attack by Soviet secret services on an American office in Piazza di Spagna, where a politician was assassinated. The camera’s microfilm is hidden inside the lighter that eventually ends up in Mystère’s possession, tying her fate to a dangerous world of espionage and power.

Mystère soon learns that her friend’s killer is Captain Levi, the head of Criminalpol, and she manages to save Colt from Levi’s reach. In a tense turn of events, Colt kills Levi and tries to strike a deal with the secret services to obtain a sizable sum for the film’s contents, hoping to escape with Mystère to start a new life together.

An adventurous sequence of events unfolds as the inspector acquires a million dollars, yet the initial plan shifts and he leaves Mystère behind. Mystère later tracks Colt to his gilded exile in Hong Kong, and rather than seek revenge, the two of them fall in love and envision a quieter future amid the shadows of their past.

Not even the arrival of the assassin Iranov, who adheres to a ruthless creed of never leaving anything behind, can completely derail the new life they’ve begun. Iranov’s bid to reclaim the money from the film negatives threatens to upend the fragile happiness Colt and Mystère have found, forcing them to confront what they truly want as they navigate a world where loyalty, money, and danger are in constant play.
