Boo Boo Runs Wild 1999

Ranger Smith [Corey Burton] has launched a rulemaking spree across Jellystone Park, posting arbitrary and nonsensical regulations that reshape every corner of daily life. He even extends his reach to the backside of a familiar-sounding moose, a curious flourish that he greets with evident glee. Yogi Bear [Stephen Worth] watches the upheaval with irritated annoyance, trying to navigate the new rules and keep his usual mischief within bounds. Boo-Boo [John Kricfalusi], usually the steadier voice in their duo, begins to feel increasingly repressed under the flood of orders, and after a Ren Höek-esque rant, he loses his grip on sanity and goes feral, to Ranger Smith’s dismay; as the longtime cynosure of rebellion, Yogi had long suspected Boo-Boo would be the first to snap.

Boo-Boo’s behavior spirals from feeding stolen human food to other bears to clawing the backsides off trees and then savagely devouring honey from a hive. Cindy Bear [Mary Ellen Thomas], aroused by Boo-Boo’s new attitude, joins him in an affair, much to Yogi’s shock and dismay. Yogi goes to Ranger Smith’s cabin to discuss Boo-Boo’s increasingly dangerous conduct, while The Chief [Michael Pataki], furious over Boo-Boo’s actions and deeming them a terrible example for the park’s other bears, orders Ranger Smith to “put Boo-Boo down” over the phone. Ranger Smith grabs a shotgun to enforce the order, but Yogi refuses to allow it out of loyalty to Boo-Boo, and the two old friends find themselves in a tense confrontation.

Boo-Boo reacts to the clash between Yogi and Ranger Smith and tries to intervene, but is knocked out; this, along with Ranger Smith’s splash of water, snaps Boo-Boo back to his normal, tranquil self, much to everyone’s relief. In the end, the trio weighs the consequences of control and freedom, and the momentary chaos gives way to a reaffirmation of friendship and loyalty, with Jellystone Park returning to its familiar rhythm as the characters reflect on what truly matters beyond rules and rebellion.
