Kishen Malhotra, an influential industrialist and head of the Malhotra business empire, is a man deeply rooted in his family and business pursuits. His immediate family consists of his mother, played by Sushma Seth, his uncle, and his cousin Bhanu, portrayed by Mohnish Behl. The story unfolds when Kishen uncovers a scheme where his cousin is attempting to defraud the company, leading him to decisively banish Bhanu from their household. Driven by his ambition to expand his empire, Kishen ventures into a village where he meets a charming local girl named Radha, played by Juhi Chawla Mehta, also known as Rita.

In the village, Kishen’s interest extends beyond business; he begins teaching English to Radha and other villagers, forging a genuine connection with her. Over time, they develop a romantic relationship, and Kishen finds himself falling in love with Radha. However, his peace is shattered when he senses he’s being watched and that someone is reading his private mail, highlighting a looming threat. With this suspicion weighing on him, Kishen leaves Radha and the village, promising to return someday.

Upon returning home, Kishen is met with shock and confusion. His household is in mourning, but the real shock comes when he sees a portrait of his mother, indicating she has passed away. Even more bewildering is the presence of a duplicate of Kishen mourning beside the portrait, claiming to be the real Kishen. This duplicate, astonishing him further, shares detailed knowledge about Kishen’s life and even Radha, whom the real Kishen deeply cares for. The duplicate’s uncanny knowledge raises suspicions, though Kishen considers that his loyal dog might be able to tell the difference. When the dog approaches the impostor, it surprisingly identifies him as the real master, throwing Kishen into chaos and casting doubt on his own sense of reality.

Meanwhile, Kishen uncovers a sinister plot when he learns about the sudden death of a trusted old servant, which he suspects was murder. He manages to infiltrate his own office, now controlled by his duplicate, but is quickly arrested. Additional clues emerge when a servant reveals that Kishen’s mother may have been involved in an accident that likely caused her death. Bard Bhat Bhanu, his treacherous cousin, also makes an appearance back at the household, further complicating the rising tension.

Radha, worried about Kishen, comes to meet him in the city but is upset when she sees the duplicate Kishen enjoying a lively party with women. She misinterprets the situation and decides to leave him. However, the real Kishen escapes police custody and rushes to explain his predicament to Radha, persuading her of his innocence. She joins forces with Kishen and a dumb convict named Goonga, played by Jagdish Raj, who escapes with them.

Their escape leads them all the way to Goa, where Kishen encounters a girl who calls him Tony. Over time, he discovers that his duplicate is known as Tony Montana, a saxophonist working in a lively Goan club called Three Aces, with a girlfriend involved in the club’s scene. As Kishen gradually gathers information about Tony’s background, he begins to understand the entire plot against him.

Returning to Mumbai, Radha — who now disguises herself as Rita — gains access to Kishen’s home and begins piecing together the puzzle. Kishen identifies key perpetrators: Bhanu, Tony, and Inspector Dholakia, played by Kiran Kumar. The plot thickens when Tony threatens to expose his partners, claiming to have a trump card. His trump card is shocking: revealing that Kishen’s mother is still alive and held captive with no knowledge of the conspiracy.

Kishen realizes that his dog was also replaced, which hints at a deeper conspiracy. With clever disguises, Kishen impersonates Tony to turn the tables, forcing the villains to eject him the same way he was ousted initially. Meanwhile, Tony manages to reach Kishen’s mother, pretending to be Kishen himself. She, in turn, tricks the villains and recognizes her son. The climax reaches its peak when all the villains converge at Tony’s hideout. The uncle confesses that he envied his brother’s estate and disapproved of how Kishen’s mother inherited everything.

As the story nears its resolution, Kishen surprises everyone by revealing that the money used to attract the villains was fake — a masterstroke anticipating their treachery. In a surprising turn, Inspector Dholakia— who had earlier appeared to be part of the enemy’s plan—steps forward holding a gun aimed at Radha, but Goonga reintroduces himself as Inspector Bhende and explains he was undercover, working for the police to expose the entire plot.

In the final confrontation, the villains are subdued and arrested, restoring justice. Tony, acknowledging the chaos and confusion, admits that there can be only one Kishen. With the villains behind bars and the mystery resolved, Kishen and Radha are finally united, ending the tale on a note of triumph and love.
