Somewhere amidst the frozen wasteland, an expedition from Kord Industries led by the mercenary Ignacio Carapax stumbles upon an alien artifact known as the Scarab. This powerful entity is handed over to the company’s CEO, Victoria Kord.

Meanwhile, in Palmera City, new college graduate Jaime Reyes finds himself returning home to his family: father Alberto Reyes, mother Rocio Reyes, sister Milagro Reyes, uncle Rudy Reyes, and his beloved Nana Adriana Barraza. Upon his return, Jaime learns that his family has fallen on hard times, exacerbated by Kord Industries’ ongoing developments that are gentrifying their hometown. This troubling situation has caused his father’s business to suffer, putting their home at risk. Compounding these issues, Alberto is grappling with serious heart problems. Despite his confidence in landing a job with his fresh degree, Jaime faces continuous rejection and frustration. Fortunately, Milagro manages to secure him a cleaning job at Victoria Kord’s mansion.

Simultaneously, Victoria Kord is confronted by her niece, Jenny Kord, who is outraged by the revival of a dangerous super-technology project known as One Man Army Corps (OMAC). This project, originally discontinued by her father Ted Kord before his sudden disappearance, was recently reignited by Victoria, who is now determined to sell this weaponry to global powers. As tensions rise, Jaime intervenes when he witnesses Victoria threatening Jenny Kord, which leads to him and Milagro being fired. Grateful for his support, Jenny Kord invites Jaime to Kord Tower to potentially set up another job.

Upon arriving at Kord Tower, Jaime is left waiting in the lobby while Jenny discovers the Scarab and makes a daring escape. In a panic, she hands the alien artifact to Jaime, hiding it in a burger box, and instructs him to guard it with utmost caution. Intrigued yet confused, Jaime takes the box home, where his family convinces him to open it. This act awakens the Scarab, which dramatically attaches itself to Jaime, binding to him and encasing him in an advanced alien suit of armor. As the Scarab reveals its identity, offering guidance, it unleashes chaos as Jaime flies through the city before crashing back home.

With his family anxious about the situation, Rudy convinces them to keep the police out of this, suspecting Kord Industries is behind everything. Desperate to remove the Scarab, Jaime seeks out Jenny again and together, they navigate the dangers of Kord Industries to find answers. They’re eventually thrust into a battle when Carapax attacks, but Jaime embraces his newfound powers with the help of the Scarab, leading to a confrontation where compassion rises above vengeance.

As Jaime learns more about the Scarab and its capabilities, he also discovers a dangerous plot at the hands of Victoria Kord, who intends to harness the Scarab to create an army of super-soldiers. With help from his supportive family and Jenny, they rally their strengths and prepare to rescue Jaime when he is taken captive by Kord’s forces.

In a climactic battle on a secluded island aimed at extraction, Jaime faces torment but is buoyed by the memory of his father, who encourages him to accept his destiny. With the Scarab’s help, Jaime fights back against the OMAC project and finds the strength to protect his family and community from impending doom. When the dust settles, the Reyes family is left to mourn their losses while Jenny steps up to lead Kord Industries in honoring her father’s legacy.

In a heartwarming conclusion, Jaime and Jenny share a moment as they move forward from the chaotic turmoil, while deep in the shadows of the abandoned Blue Beetle lair, a cryptic message from Ted Kord hints at unexpected hope.
