Two reporters, accompanied by their photographer and filmographer, receive an invitation from the Air Force to explore the enigmatic Area 51, aiming to quash persistent rumors surrounding its alleged alien research. Unfortunately, their quest to misinform the public spirals wildly out of control.

Through a captivating series of interviews with friends, family, and experts, the sudden disappearance of three best friends—Reid, Darren, and Ben, all passionate conspiracy theorists—is examined. Notably, Reid, portrayed as the group’s leader, is observed by his sister and colleagues as his lifestyle sharply changes. In the three months preceding his disappearance, he becomes fixated on UFOs, extraterrestrial encounters, and the secrets of Area 51, which ultimately costs him his job and strains his family relationships.

The tension heightens as we see a shaky camcorder footage of Reid, Darren, and Ben heading to a lively house party. The night takes a strange turn when Reid, challenged to partake in karaoke, vanishes during a sudden blackout. Assuming he merely stepped out, Darren and Ben continue to enjoy the festivities. On their way back, they encounter Reid eerily standing in the middle of the road. Although he seems unwell, he claims to be fine. Fast forward three months, the trio is seen preparing for an infiltration of Area 51, equipped with sophisticated tools including a device to disrupt cellphone signals, night vision goggles, and pills designed to mask their ammonia levels, as the base is protected by ammonia detectors.

Their journey leads them to Las Vegas, where they meet Reid’s friend, Jelena, another fervent conspiracy enthusiast. Jelena shares that her father once worked at Area 51 but was fired for probing too deeply into its secrets. Before his death, he entrusted her with documents detailing the base’s hidden truths, revealing that the actual Area 51 is buried a mile underground, alongside references to a mysterious section known as “S4”. They discover a photograph of an elderly man that Jelena’s father had kept a watchful eye on, suggesting this man might be vital to uncovering the base’s secrets.

With a resolve to track down the elderly man, the group waits at the JANET terminal of McCarran International Airport, where Reid explains the rumored acronym stands for “Just Another Non-Existent Terminal.” To their astonishment, they spot the elderly man exiting the terminal in his car and decide to follow him. They trail him to his home and, under the cover of night, Reid sneaks inside while Darren keeps watch. Their covert mission is nearly thwarted when Ben warns of the elderly man’s return, forcing Reid and Darren to hide. As the family settles down, Reid and Darren discreetly navigate through the house, aiming to get a hold of the elderly man’s ID and a bottle of his cologne to collect his fingerprint for biometric scanning.

After their narrow escape, the trio journeys to Rachel, Nevada, interviewing locals who claim that extraterrestrial entities inhabit the base, often described as “terrifying” and best left contained. Along the outskirts of Area 51, they encounter a local guide who divulges that the area is guarded by motion sensors, emphasizing the need to disable these alarms to avoid detection. Just as they strategize, an unmarked SUV pulls up, raising their suspicions.

Later that evening, Jelena reunites with the trio in their motel room, expressing her desire to join the infiltration. After some reluctance from Darren, they agree. Reid ensures Jelena takes the necessary pills to counteract ammonia levels, and they equip her with a specialized jumpsuit designed to mask her body temperature. The tension mounts when Ben notices someone peering into their car, leading to an unexpected bang on the door, but no one is found upon checking.

As they set off into the desert, they execute their plan: Ben will wait in the car while Reid, Darren, and Jelena venture into the heart of Area 51 to unearth evidence of extraterrestrial activity. Dressed in gas masks and specially equipped jumpsuits, they embark on their expedition, skillfully dodging motion sensors and a helicopter patrol.

Once they breach the base’s perimeter, the adrenaline surges as they navigate through a maze of halls, pass office workers, and evade armed guards. Their discovery leads them to an S2 complex, where they encounter a mysterious green liquid and holding cells. In a heart-stopping moment, they unlock a vault, only to find bizarre anti-gravity devices and a container of peculiar white blood, which reacts aggressively when Darren and Jelena attempt to inspect it.

As chaos ensues, Reid and Jelena make a frantic escape while Darren, fueled by curiosity, snatches a beaker of the strange blood. The trio finds themselves deeper within the facility, ultimately stumbling upon a colossal hangar housing a bizarre saucer-shaped craft. Reid, unable to resist, touches the craft and feels it respond to his touch. Curiosity leads him to leap inside, where he discovers a mind-boggling pod storage.

Pushing further towards S4, they are overwhelmed by the complex’s security protocols. As alarms blare, Reid and Jelena press forward while Darren gets separated. They encounter a truth that terrifies them—aliens lurking behind closed doors. When a grey alien manifests from one of the pods, panic takes hold, and they manage to escape into another section. Meanwhile, Darren, evading capture, witnesses chaos erupting around him as soldiers hurriedly evacuate the premises. His heart races, sensing he is not alone…

As Reid and Jelena crawl through dark passages, they barely escape detection by a fast-moving alien. They find themselves in an eerie room, where gravity defies logic, forcing them into a terrifying reality where they lose each other amid the frenzy.
