In April 1942, the Philippines are thrust into brutal war as Japanese planes devastate a American motor torpedo boat. Among the survivors is Ensign Chuck Palmer, [Tyrone Power], who, along with others, reaches the shores of Cebu while their commander orders a split to maximize their chances of escaping the onslaught. Chuck Palmer, paired with Jim Mitchell, [Tom Ewell], makes his way toward Leyte, where they learn that General MacArthur has issued orders to surrender his forces soon. [Robert Barrat]
