Spoilers ahead
Emily Taylor is a humble, kindhearted seamstress from Philadelphia who loves her family’s business and the simple joys of everyday life. She is happily in love with her European boyfriend, Leo James, who, in a surprising turn, reveals a secret identity: he is Prince Leopold, heir to the throne of a tiny, Monaco-inspired realm called Cordinia that blends elements of Corsica and Sardinia in its mood and setting. Leo invites Emily to spend the Christmas holidays in his homeland, where she meets Isadora, the Queen of Cordinia. The Queen’s first impression is cool and critical, as she pushes for Leo to marry a duchess named Natasha—someone she believes will suit the royal station far more than a hardworking American seamstress.
