The Beekeeper 2 Release Date Set for 2027 with New Villains

Jason Statham will reprise his role as the formidable ex-assassin in The Beekeeper 2, which has been given an official release date of January 15, 2027. The announcement, reported by Deadline, confirms the next chapter for the popular action franchise. Director Timo Tjahjanto, who took over from David Ayer, has completed principal photography and is hyping up the sequel’s expanded cast of adversaries.

Principal filming concluded in December 2025, paving the way for the 2027 debut. The sequel brings back key cast members Emmy Raver-Lampman, Bobby Naderi, Jeremy Irons, and Jemma Redgrave. They will be joined by newcomers Yara Shahidi, Pom Klementieff, and Adam Copeland.

Director’s Vision for the Sequel

In an interview with The Direct, director Timo Tjahjanto expressed significant excitement for the project, highlighting the strength of the script and the introduction of new villains. He described the antagonist element as “unpredictable and colorful,” suggesting Statham’s character will face a fresh and dynamic challenge. Tjahjanto further elaborated that the villains will have a heightened, almost manga-like quality, pushing the film’s genre feel.

Box Office Predecessor and Streaming Success

The first The Beekeeper film, directed by David Ayer and released in January 2024, was a major commercial success for Amazon MGM Studios. Produced on a budget of $40 million, it grossed $162 million worldwide. Following its theatrical run, the movie became a standout hit on Prime Video, consistently ranking high on the platform’s charts for months. This performance solidified the franchise’s potential and led to the sequel’s greenlight in February 2025.
