Superman: Man of Tomorrow Begins Filming in April 2027
Production on Superman: Man of Tomorrow is officially scheduled to start in April, according to star Nicholas Hoult. The sequel to the 2025 Superman film remains on course for its scheduled theatrical debut on July 8, 2027.
Director James Gunn has further teased the project’s forward momentum by sharing an image of completed storyboards, signaling that pre-production is advancing smoothly. The film will see Superman (David Corenswet) forming an unlikely alliance with Lex Luthor (Hoult) to confront the powerful villain Brainiac.
Production Timeline and Director’s Update
While attending Perú Comic Con, Nicholas Hoult offered a key update, stating, “We start filming in April.” This start date aligns with the need to complete the large-scale production well before the mid-2027 release. Gunn’s recent social media post, which featured a stack of storyboards ready for his crew, underscores that the creative process is in an advanced stage with a finished script.
This accelerated timeline has been a point of discussion among fans, especially following other DCU projects with compressed schedules. However, all signs indicate that Man of Tomorrow is proceeding without delays.
